Shopping is always the most fun thing at every moment before changing your makeup and getting back to doing activities in the kitchen.
Do you know that shopping is not the activity that I do once or twice, sometimes in a day I can shop twice if there is an urgent need. Fruit shopping is something I look forward to when the first month arrives. Why the beginning of the month? The beginning of the month becomes a special edition because the wallet is still full, which means shopping time has started. This is my post for the fruit edition vegan shopping entry. So for those of you who want to participate in this contest, please click the link here!
Yesterday, I shopped for fruit with my niece at a traditional market which is not far from where we live. Namely the Kruenggeukuh area, I happened to stop by the market yesterday because I wanted to buy some other urgent needs.
At first I went around looking for a complete fruit shop in this area. But the only place that is complete is in this place, it looks simple but the fruit offered in this shop is very diverse. From local fruit to fruit exported.
They sell fresh fruit such as apples, watermelons, melon, lemon, guava, papaya, banana oranges, pears, soursops, dragon fruit, grapes and others. And also even local fruit with various types you can find a lot if you visit my area.
I was very enthusiastic when I saw the various types of fruit being sold here, I felt like I wanted to have them all. You know, before I took a few pictures of the fruit, the mother was selling, asking what it was for in that many photos. He was very enthusiastic when I asked permission to take pictures and he was very kind to give bonus fruit plus some fruit for me.
I bought several types of local fruit, well I want to process the fruit into something delicious to be enjoyed with my family. Among them I bought 1 kg of salak for IDR. 15,000, then 1 kg of kedondong for IDR. 10,000, then a kilo of oranges for IDR. 20,000. And lastly, I bought ½ kg of jicama for IDR 5,000. The total I spent getting this much fruit was only IDR 50,000, very cheap isn't it. This is because local fruit is sold very cheaply.
First, the Salak fruit, known by its Latin name Salacca zalacca, has a rough and scaly outer skin with a brownish color. This fruit is very famous in Indonesia because it has a unique shape and tends to taste sweet. The texture of the fruit is crunchy and has hard, brownish seeds. This fruit can be consumed directly or processed for a variety of fresh desserts. Salak fruit is very well stored at room temperature, because its hard skin makes this fruit safe at room temperature conditions. And if you want this fruit cold, just peel the skin and store it in your fridge.
Apart from salak, yam is also very well known in Indonesia, this fruit belongs to the type of tubers. But in my area yam is known as a type of fruit. Jicama or Latin name Pachyrhizus erosus, is a fruit that has a crunchy texture and is slightly sweet. This fruit has a million benefits and is also relatively very cheap. Jicama is safe to store at cold temperature, now choose jicama that is old and rather large because it will greatly affect the taste.
Kedondong fruit or its Latin name Spondias dulcis must be familiar because I made it in a previous post, namely candied kedondong. This fruit is very preferred for fruit salad combinations because it has a sour taste and crunchy texture. The thorny part of the seed makes this fruit very unique. Well, this kedondong fruit itself is very well stored at room temperature.
So, that's vegan shopping today, fruit edition. I am very happy to be able to share my knowledge about local fruit in my area which is the cheapest, and of course there are still many types of local fruit in my area. maybe in the future I can shop again and share with you. Hopefully whenever you visit my country you can try these fruits. Or maybe you can buy it at an Asian store in your country.
