Dear friends, wishing all of you a very good day. How are you all?
In many Sri Lankan homes, semolina sweets hold a special place—not only for their taste but also for the warm memories they evoke. These traditional treats, made from simple ingredients like semolina, sugar, coconut, and a touch of aromatic spices, are soft, fragrant, and irresistibly delicious. Whether it’s a festive occasion, a family gathering, or just an ordinary day when you crave something sweet and delightful, semolina sweets are always warmly welcomed.
So, let’s see step by step how to prepare them.
Materials Used.
Semolina 200g.
Sugar 150g.
1 Cup of grated coconut.
100 finely chopped peanuts.
1 Teaspoon of Chopped cashews.
100G finely chopped dates.
A pinch of salt.
The cooking process as follows.
First, to prepare the sugar and coconut mixture, place a pan on the stove and add a small amount of sugar. Let it begin to caramelize. Before it fully caramelizes, add a little water and let it continue to heat until it turns a reddish color. Then, add the grated coconut and mix well. When the coconut and sugar mixture turns a light brown color and is well combined, remove it from the heat.
Next, lightly roast the semolina for a short time.
Now, add the roasted semolina into a bowl. To that, add the grated coconut, crushed jaggery, chopped cashew nuts, a pinch of salt, and the coconut-sugar mixture. Mix everything well by hand and shape the mixture into small balls. To enhance the presentation, you can press a small piece of jaggery onto each ball to add a colorful touch.
So, once prepared, this semolina sweet brings together texture, taste, and tradition in every bite. It is best enjoyed slightly warm, shared with your family or friends alongside a cup of tea. Give it a try—you might just discover your new favorite homemade treat! That’s all from me for today .Wishing you all a very lovely and joyful day!
