It is my pleasure to bring to you another recipe how are you all I hope you are doing great.
Today I decided to cook a very common food in Nigeria which is Jollof rice I made it in a different way.
First Jollof rice is a vibrant and flavorful one-pot dish that is a staple in many West African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal. It is made with rice cooked in a tomato-based sauce enriched with a blend of spices, onions, and peppers, giving it its iconic reddish-orange color and smoky taste. While its exact origins are debated, Jollof rice has become a cultural symbol, often featured at celebrations, parties, and family gatherings. Variations exist between regions, but its delicious simplicity and ability to be paired with proteins like fried plantains, and many more make it a beloved dish across Africa and beyond. It is a very common food loved by children mostly and it's taste is so wonderful.
ingredients
- 4 cups of rice
- 1 sachet of tomato paste
- A sachet of groundnut oil which is one cooking spoon
- Curry leaves
- One hand full Fresh pepper 🌶️
- A piece of fresh ginger
- 1 piece of Onion
- A spoon of salt
procedure
First I perboiled the rice wash it and keep
as I was waiting for it to perboil i slice the onions, pound the pepper , wash the curry leaf and pound it also and the ginger too.
Then I put the pot on fire to heat, when heated
I add groundnut oil to the heated pot and allow it to heat, then I add onions and stir
after then I add the curry leaf
so as to have a good smell and taste. Some people like adding their curry leaf after putting everything and the rice is almost done then they will put it but it will only give it a good smell but this my type will give it a good smell and a wonderful taste. After the curry leaf I add the tomato paste to it and stir until mix well
as of that time the smell was so good to the extend someone came into the house from outside and told us where he was perceiving the smell from. It was then that I know that this my Jollof rice will turn out successfully and my friends will love it. The next thing I did was to add is ginger and stir
after that I add water
that will match the quantity of the rice then I add pepper to it
and I put the salt and stir
after that I add the rice and turn it very well
then cover the pot. After 20 minutes and open it lo and behold it was ready to serve.
After then I thought of what to eat it with then I remember that we have paw-paw, sometimes rice can be serve with paw-paw and when eat together it taste so nice. So I cut the pawpaw and use it for the serving
Jollof rice is celebrated for its smoky, slightly spicy taste, and it's a centerpiece of parties, weddings, and family gatherings. While regional variations exist, the debate over the "best" Jollof rice, especially between Nigeria and Ghana, remains a lighthearted yet passionate cultural rivalry.
So my friends thanks for your time here.
I love you all
