Hello friends in Vegan community, today is a busy day for me, because I have to go to school earlier than usual. There are a series of activities that I have to take part in at school. Usually every morning, I go to teach at 06.40 WIB. But this morning I have to leave at 06.20 WIB. Before going to work, I have to cook breakfast for my husband and children. Even though the children are still off school, I and my family must have breakfast before doing activities. This is one of the rules that I apply, so we can have breakfast together at home. I don't have much time to cook in the kitchen, I decided to cook sweet porridge using a rice cooker. I don't have to stir the porridge back and forth, if I use a rice cooker, this way I can do other work.
I made sweet porridge from rice and corn, we are used to having breakfast with rice as the main menu, so I will make rice porridge with corn. How to make rice porridge with corn is very simple, the ingredients are also easy to get and most importantly it can meet the nutritional needs of children who are growing up.
Ingredients for Making Rice Porridge with Corn
The ingredients that I use to make Rice Porridge with Corn are :
200 grams of rice
1 piece of young corn
100 grams of palm sugar
1 sachet of instant coconut milk
1200 mL of water
a little salt
At home there is only one young corn left, friends can use 2-3 young corn to make this sweet porridge and don't forget to add the measure of water, so that the porridge has a soft texture, for the addition of 1 corn, friends can add 100 mL of water.
The Process of Making Rice Porridge with Corn
First, I wash the rice clean, then I put it in the rice cooker tube.
Second, peel the skin of the corn, wash the corn, then take the corn, put the corn into the rice cooker.
Third, add water to the rice cooker tube.
Fourth, it's time to cook porridge with the rice cooker, let it boil and we can save time for other work.
Fifth, after 30 minutes, the porridge started to boil. This was indicated by water coming out of the rice cooker tube. I started stirring so that the porridge cooked evenly.
Sixth, when I stirred the porridge, it turned out that the rice had become mush and tasted soft, at this time I added salt. Adding salt to enrich the taste of the porridge.
Seven, also add palm sugar. I like the taste of palm sugar which is not too sweet, this is real palm sugar made from palm trees, I believe this palm sugar has many benefits for the health of the body and when added to porridge, the aroma can help increase appetite.
Eight, add coconut milk, then stir until well mixed.
Nine, close the rice cooker tube again, cook until the palm sugar melts.
When the palm sugar has melted, there is no need to wait for the indicator light to show a sign of heat / indicating that the porridge is cooked. If we wait for the indicator light to change, the porridge will be dry and taste bad. that's the benefit of me adding a lot of water, so that the rice turns into soft rice.
The result
The sweet porridge menu is ready to be served, enjoy it while it's warm.
The texture of the rice porridge is soft, while the corn is not crushed, the taste of the corn feels fresh when bitten.
