Brief Biography
He devoted 30 years of his life on our country India. He was a man of great inner strength, humble and tolerant nature.
He was a visionary person who thought only for the progress of the country.
Lal Bahadur Shastri completed his studies at East Central Railway Inter College in Mughalsarai and Varanasi. 'Shastri' which means 'scholar' was given to him by Vidya Peeth as a part of his graduation degree award.

It is said that he remained a life member of the Servants of the People Society (Lok Sevak Mandal) founded by Lala Lajpat Rai.On that he started working for the development of the backward classes and later he became the president of that society.
During the 1920s, Shastri was also involved in the Indian independence movement, in which he participated in the non-cooperation movement.
Lal Bahadur Shastri ji supported Gandhiji for the independence of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri along with Mahatma Gandhi participated in many movements for the independence of India.For which he also spent 9 years of his life in jail.
Political achievements
After India's independence, he also joined as the organizing secretary of the Parliamentary Board of UP.
He also became the Minister of Police and Transport in 1947 after India's independence. As Transport Minister, he also appointed women conductors for the first time.
In 1952, being the Railway Minister elected to the Rajya Sabha from UP, he installed the first machine in 1955 at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
Shastri again became Minister of Transport, Communications and then Minister of Commerce and Industry in 1957.Lal Bahadur Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India on 9 June 1964.
India faced another invasion from Pakistan in 1965. He gave full freedom to the security forces to retaliate and said that "force will be met with force" and it gained popularity.
Death
Lal Bahadur Shastri died of a heart attack on January 11, 1966.
After his death in 1966 he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was also known as a man of great integrity and capable.
