I always find some detail that brings back pleasant memories, even in simple bags.
When I heard about the initiative I said to myself... I don't have bags, I used to have them, but not anymore, I don't use them or I don't think I have them.
But looking for one in particular that I did know I had and that I esteem very much for its meaning, its illustration and the intention with which it was given to me, I found many others that I had kept because they were out of the ordinary, because of their colour, their drawings or their practicality.
The most curious thing is that I not only found a variety of colours and decorations, but also of textures and materials in which they are made. I myself was surprised by what I had, when at first I said to myself... I can't participate.
I should clarify that when I was in Argentina I had bags, but few and they were mainly for gifts or to put inside little presents, but here I have another kind of variety.
Let's start with some bags that I honestly don't know how they got to me, I suppose it was probably because of some purchase I made. And I kept them precisely because of their drawings. They are made of plastic, but they have weird decorations. One looks like a newspaper, another has various drawings of flowers and leaves and of course one has Egyptian motifs. Guess which one of these three is my favourite... I think you know it.
These two bags, and in fact it is very common here, are made in a fabric that in Argentina we call friseline, and they come in many colours.
The pink one, I like .... Because it is pink and the other one for its beautiful drawings of animals. This bag is an advertisement for an insurance company, but that's not important, what matters are the drawings, at least for me.
Then we have a set of mini bags, they are very useful for storing small things and two of them contained toiletries, beauty and such things. The big pink one is my favourite, because of its glitter.
These two bags are very practical and sturdy for carrying things when you are out and about. One is made of cardboard, but very strong, and the other is made of hessian, which is even stronger. I like the latter because it is rustic and useful.
But next I will tell you about three special bags, two of them souvenirs and the other one... I'll tell you about it.
The horse bag was the bag I was tirelessly looking for until I found it. It was a gift from a former student. It has a special history and that's why I kept it very well, so much so that I couldn't find it.
This bag and many others were made by an organisation called Nelquihue, a centre for the reception and recovery of mistreated horses. And it has a very nice phrase that goes like this:
Beauty without vanity.
Strength without insolence.
Courage without ferocity.
And all the virtues of man, without his vices.
You will understand why I like this bag so much.
The other one, of many colours, is a shopping bag, one of those that go inside another little bag. A former student painted it for me for the moving trip. All those colours you see are painted by her as an abstract painting. That's why it has a special meaning.
The last bag has a zip. And it is another special bag but not because of a story but because of the use I give it. It's the bag where I carry the mate on my walks, it's very resistant and there I carry the mate, the thermos with hot water, the yerba mate, the sugar and the coffee. Yes, I add coffee to the mate.
This bag has accompanied me on many walks and has travelled the city with me, that's why it's so special.
And which is your favourite of all the bags? I'd love to know in the comments.
Thank you all so much for watching and reading this far, I send you a big hello and see you soon.
Amonet.
