I honestly don't remember when I started collecting scarves, the exact moment. But what I do know is that it developed over time.
It was around 2008, when I was already giving private computer classes that I started to like scarves. The students found out about it and gave me gifts, especially for my birthday.
Most of the scarves I have are gifts, some are very special to me for reasons I will tell you about.
I certainly don't know how many I have, but before I left for Spain I can assure you that I had dozens of them. Many of them I gave away and donated.
Generally I like warm colours, like red, pink, some orange or yellow. Black or beige scarves go with everything and that's what I like the most.
Many of them I've had for many years, and I don't want to get rid of them.
I remember I started wearing them a lot when I was teaching, they are elegant, thin and look great. When it was cold, they were very good for me so I didn't have a sore throat, because I was talking, talking all the time in class.
On the other hand, I love the way they fit, they look great with almost any outfit.
I have spring scarves, light, soft and very thin, and I also have winter ones, thicker and warmer. Many people also call them scarves. It depends on where we are in the world.
The truth is that when I came to Spain, I couldn't bring the whole quantity I had and when my family came, six months later, I couldn't charge them to bring my scarves. So I had to choose.
I selected the ones that I hold most dear, the ones that are most beautiful to me and the ones that have an emotional effect on me. Above all, four of them are very special.
It is also true, I have shawls of different fabrics, some are beautiful with a super fine fabric, I clarify that I don't know much about that subject, I only know that they are of very good quality.
Others have little sparkles and some are almost transparent like the black one, the grey one with stripes and the bordo one.
Some have details on the edges and others are rather rustic. I have something for all occasions.
As I said, there are some warmer ones, especially for this time of year when it's not too cold and you can wear something beautiful around your neck.
I consider scarves to be a style of my own that I have acquired. I never follow the latest fashion, I create my own fashion and scarves have been in it for many years.
Some of them are made with a kind of wool, in this case I show in this picture, both of them are very special for me.
The black and grey scarf was knitted for me by a former student who is no longer in this world and the red one was given to me by a former student and friend who is very dear to me and with whom I always have contact and conversations.
The next one is white and hand painted. It was also made by a former student who loves painting and handicrafts and made it especially for me, which is why it is so special. Of course it is also beautiful, very beautiful and fine.
Finally, I want to show you the most precious one for me not only because of its beauty, its decorations, its drawings, texture and quality, but also because of the importance of the person who gave it to me.
This scarf was given to me by a former student, called Gilda, who sadly passed away two months ago. I held her in great esteem. A great woman with great knowledge and wisdom.
She was Peruvian, studied nursing as a young woman in Argentina and then moved to the United States. There she retired as a nurse, married an Argentinean and moved to Argentina to accompany her husband when he retired. I taught her for many years, she was an old woman, it was difficult for her to learn, but she was a lovely person.
On a trip to visit her nephews in the United States she bought me this scarf and now it is the most precious souvenir I have of her.
I love butterflies and she unknowingly chose it for me. For that reason and for its beauty this scarf is my favourite.
And this is my current collection of scarves that will surely grow, because they fascinate me.
Many thanks to and
for inviting me to this beautiful community.
Greetings to all of you and see you next time.
