In recent weeks and since the last time I posted on Hive, a lot has happened in my life. One of those things is that I am visiting my son in Chicago to spend the holidays with him. And last weekend, we visited the Lincoln Park Zoo to see the Christmas light display.
ZooLights is one of the iconic visits these days in the Windy City to enjoy the magic of the holidays. So let me share with you some of the photos for this month's Hive Collectors theme.
From the moment you enter, you are captivated by the festive atmosphere of thousands of dazzling lights.
Without thinking twice, we followed the crowds along the route between lights.
Would you like to take a ride on one of these colorful ponies?
Or perhaps a dip in a lake of lights?
Or a walk through the forest of colorful trees?
I loved the giant red teddy bear and the smiling Mr. and Mrs. Light who looked very happy.
There was a small Ferris wheel in one area of the zoo, but it was so cold that we didn't feel like waiting in line to ride it.
Santa couldn't be missing with his sleigh and reindeer.
Lights aside, on our walk among the lights, we detoured a couple of times to enter some of the buildings in the zoo. Most of the animals were asleep and in some cases could not be seen, but in the case of the chimpanzees, they seemed not to want to miss the visitors, and I was able to capture a few of them through the glass.
I would have loved to see the polar bear they have at the zoo, but that area was closed, so we had to settle for seeing the light-up polar bears.
After almost two hours walking among the lights and seeing a few animals, we walked toward one of the exits.
I already told you that the night was freezing, right? And when we left the zoo, it was very windy, and it almost hurt me to breathe because the air was so cold, hehe. But when we left, we crossed a small bridge that gave us a beautiful view of the illuminated city. It wasn't part of the ligths display, but it was just as magical, don't you think?
And even though it was freezing cold, the walk to enjoy the magic of the ZooLights was well worth it. Happy Holidays!
