Hello, community and hive collectors! Greetings! This month’s shoe challenge from involves shoes. I have quite a collection of shoes, including some canvas. Most of the time, I purchase them from the US when we visit family. here in Norway, when some shops offer discounts, sometimes online, and sometimes in a flea market. Due to my spine condition, scoliosis, I must be very careful about which shoes I choose to wear.
Here is something connected with shoes.
One year, we had a friend visiting us in India who traveled from the Netherlands to Goa with ten pairs of shoes for a 15-day stay. I hadn't asked her about it, but later on I got me know why? During World War II, as a child, she and her family had to hide underground without warm clothes or shoes during the winter, winter without shoes, imagine? This experience made her always pack warm clothes and multiple pairs of shoes whenever she travels.
Reflecting on my childhood, I learned one lesson from my father. I often wore secondhand shoes that had belonged to my older sister. When she got the new shoes, the old ones came to me. When I complained about this to my father, he told me, "You are lucky to have your sister’s shoes, while your friend goes barefoot to school; she doesn't even have old ones. There’s a boy who comes to ask for help each week; he doesn’t even have proper legs(was born with polio) to wear shoes." This always stuck with me. That lesson taught me a big philosophy of life. Whenever I get a new thing, I remember my father's words, which meant to be satisfied with what you have and not to compare yourself to those who have more. Instead, remember to appreciate and help those who have less than you do. He was a very good father, but we lost him very early.
after I started working, I was crazy to buy different types of shoes to make myself happy and give a gift to somebody who needed them. But I always keep max 3 pairs of shoes in India: 1 flip-flop, one formal, and one travel shoe. (They are with me now, here in Norway)
In Norway, Ohh! I have a huge collection. We have to change shoes according to the seasons and the activities. Going to work, anyone from the shelf, depending on the weather. For walking need to be comfortable. any adventure like climbing mountains, walking in the forest requires strong and tough, on travel, comfortable on foot, some gathering fancy, winter special, some with cleats, some with spikes. summer, no shoes, like to walk barefoot, but for some functions have many choices. working in the garden, old is gold.
After these stories, here are the photos of my collection, and you will guess which one is for which season or activity.
Additionally, some reserved flip-flops
I think this is enough.
Thank you very much for stopping by.
