It is almost embarrassing to come to this community of collectors with this meager display of "socks", the theme proposed by our hostess for this month. My boldness has justification....I wanted very much to participate!!! 🤭
In Cuba we call this garment "medias", nobody around here uses the word "calcetines" to name them. According to the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language (RAE) both terms are synonyms or related words, although some discrepancy lies in the length and fabric of the garment. Their daily use is not very widespread either, our temperatures are not conducive to it. The most common use is with the uniform, during the school stage, up to twelfth grade. Its use is more frequent by men, since women often wear sandals.
In my closet drawer (of which I will not show a picture because it is very disorganized 🤣) what I have the most, are ankle socks, I remember that all of them have come to me as gifts from different people. They are not very nice and not even of good quality. Their value lies in the way they came to me and furthermore, that they effectively fulfill their purpose of protecting my feet.
The three pairs I show below, which are visibly worn, are the ones I wear the most. They are made of a soft cotton fabric and are very comfortable to wear with tennis shoes to avoid foot injuries.
As I had told you before, I had little to show, so I went through my daughter's drawer (which she still wears to school) and brought here some of hers. I realized that most of them are the typical boring white socks with gray heels and toes, so I only brought one of those.
These other 3 pairs I saw best to share with you...I love striped socks. Although I think also with flowers, animals, landscapes, animated, colorful, serious...it's really not something I have a definite criteria on.
To close this publication with a flourish, I bring you these, they were also a gift from a dear person.
The warmth it brings to my feet is a delight to enjoy lying on the couch, while I write this post.
PS: Luckily right now the temperature is quite low compared to normal values, otherwise...🥵🤣
