Finding someone who has the same taste in books is HARD. And what’s even harder? Buying books. Okay… not harder… just expensive 😅 And let’s be honest...I can’t just go to Slovenia and borrow books from the library because… yeah… there is NO way I would return them on time. My late fees would probably cost more than the books themselves 😉
And then one day I visited my brother and his girlfriend… and I saw her book collection. I just stood there staring. Like… wait… did I actually find someone who is exactly the same kind of bookworm as me?! Same taste, and she has ALL those books at home?!
So, I borrow books in Slovenian language from her, but I start buying the English versions. It's not just about reading...I'm also in love with the illustrations in the English editions. This means I'll read the books again, but I can use the excuse that it's the English version... “I must read it!” (Oh, I already read one that came a few weeks ago as a pre-story.) 🙂
Do you know how amazing it feels when you finally have someone to talk about books with? And not just that...she actually prefers physical books too. Exactly like me. I would always choose a real book over reading on a phone or computer. I mean… we already spend so much time looking at screens every day. And then reading a book on a screen too? NO THANK YOU. I tried it… and gave up after a few chapters.
Because when I start reading… I really start reading. Like 12 hours gone, just like that. “Only one more chapter before sleep”… yeah right… we all know that lie 😅 How many times have I fallen asleep with a book in my hands? A LOT 😂 My eyes would seriously hate me if I read everything on a screen.
I love to read fantasy and adventure books, but in my collection, you can also find mystery, murder, thrillers, love stories, and now and then some autobiographies and true stories. Yes, many different styles. And because I don't have a lot of space, my book collections are everywhere… some of them are stored at my mom's place, and some are with my mother-in-law. I just can't wait to finally put a big bookcase in my living room to store them all.
Anyway… I just finished my latest book series, and I’ve been getting advice to share more in the Hive collector community. Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t do it before...but hey, better late than never 😉
So I won’t spoil too much, just a little introduction… because maybe someone here will fall in love with it like I did...and I’m not about to ruin that experience for you 😉
Ready?
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas is basically THE DREAM series for me. Eight books. Yes, EIGHT 😍
It’s one of those fantasy stories that has everything...magic, kingdoms, power, friendship, love, and yes... with some spicy bed stories, too. 😉 But what really makes it special is the journey.
At the beginning, we meet Celaena Sardothien, a dangerous assassin who gets a chance to win her freedom. Sounds simple, right? Yeah… not for long. Very quickly, things get darker and more complicated. There are secrets in the castle, strange powers, and this constant feeling that something bad is coming.
As the story goes on, everything becomes bigger. The world expands, new characters appear, new lands, new dangers. And her journey? It becomes so much more than just survival. She’s not fighting only for herself anymore.
What I really love is how much the main character grows. She starts to understand who she really is… and more importantly, she starts to accept it. And with that comes responsibility. Big responsibility. The more she learns, the more she realizes what she has to do.
And trust me...nothing is easy. There are powerful enemies, ancient magic, and moments where you really think… how are they going to survive this?
Every choice matters. Every character matters. And that’s what makes it so intense.
The emotional part? Yeah… be ready for that. The characters are tested again and again, and not everyone makes it. And honestly… it hurts. Like REALLY hurts. Not just for them, but for you as a reader too.
But it’s not just about action or fantasy. It’s about loyalty, courage, friendship, loss, and sacrifice. It’s about growing, even when everything feels impossible.
By the end, everything comes together in such a powerful way. The journey is long, difficult, full of obstacles, and with darkest moments....but there is always hope, even when it looks like there is no way out.
And one thing that really stays with you is this! Even someone with a dark past can become something more. Something strong. Something important.
So, yeah…if you are even a little bit into fantasy, believe me… it’s worth it 😉
And if someone here already read it (or any other books by this author), tell me what YOU think! Was it worth your time?
AND NOW?
Well…a package with a new book series arrived (from another author 👀), so yeah… I started a new adventure. 😄📚
