Japanese Random Daily Phrase
This series of posts #ahmadlearnsjapanese is a series of posts I'm writing to force myself to learn Japanese. In every post I'll write a different phrase and what/how/when I learned about it.
I'm still learning so, some information in this post series might be wrong! Please double check if you're planning to learn something from these short posts! Also correct me if I was mistaken.
"Nice to meet you"
I decided to start the series with 初めまして (はじめまして.) "Hajimemashite" is one of the first things you'd hear when you meet a new person in Japan. It's also one of the first phrases I learned in my strange inconsistent way of learning Japanese.
Though I wasn't familiar with the Kanji before writing this post. It's one of the words that's usually written in Kana alone. It's one of the common phrases in anime so I think I memorized it from there.
Other Thoughts
The Kanji used in Hajimemashite is 初 which means first time or beginning. It reads the same as 始 which means "to begin" but 始めまして has a different meaning. The Kanji 初 is the second part of the word 最初 which means beginning and could also mean "the first." Interesting things to think about~
This above is my analysis using Google search and Takoboto dictionary. So, what do you think?
Hope you continue following this series!
