Calabar is a city in southern part of Nigeria which is the capital of Cross River State.

The Calaba started in the year 2004 by the then governor of Cross River State in person of Donald Duke making the state hub for tourism and hospitality in Nigeria and Africa promoting the local heritage and culture.
It takes place 1st of December to 31st that is it takes a month. It is really the longest biggest and best tourism event in West Africa.
Millions of people attend the event with different features of event and different participant from over 25 different countries.
Calabar carnival features street parade with the battle on the bands. The parade is only a slither of calabar carnivals attractions. There are ceremonies, concerts, artshows, street parties, masque events, sporting events and nonstop parties.

The calabar carnival is divided into four parts which are:
1st-10th December :The Millennium week
12th-17th December :Sports week
19th-24th December : The TINAPA Family festival
25th-31st Carnival week
They follow this every year
The carnival week is the final week of Calabar Carnival and most of the features take place like bikers parade,Miss Africa beauty pageant, Calabar street parade & band of the year competition, wonders on the wheel, green carnival and New year's Eve fire work display
It is really a colorful event.
