You might be wondering, why this question? But this is one question I find interesting and have really sort answers to and here are my thoughts. Most times on social media you find people, mostly other Africans complain or comment about how loud Nigerians can be. Some even say it’s because of the loud sound of generators on our streets and homes insisting that we tend to shout while talking because we can’t hear each other when we talk calmly due to this loud generator Sound, hilarious right?
There are also the section of people who believe or rather think that Nigerians are too proud yeah you read that right, hence they tend to talk loudly so everyone in the room would notice them, But is this actually true? And oh the other faction of people who think data bundles must be very cheap in Nigeria, hence the large number of Nigerians online on social media causing chaos, not to forget the vast number who believes the whole country must be jobless or unemployed to have that much online time on social media.
Now my thoughts, Nigerians are a very diverse people with over 250 languages ,ethnic groups and a population of over 200 million people and you expect their presence not to be felt online? Oh come on. The average Nigerian would rather buy data with their last penny instead of food lol, this is because they find things that make them happy online diverting their attention from whatever they might actually be going through. Warning alert !!! You dare not drag a Nigerian or Nigeria online because a whole nation of keyboard warriors will come for you. We might be divided along ethnic lines, tribal and regional lines but an attack on a Nigerian no matter the tribe is an attack against all. If you want to see what unity in diversity is then try Nigerians.
Oh how Nigerians love to express themselves in the best possible way they can, from the yorubas of the southwest using hand gestures, body movements and loud voices to express themselves, to the Hausa man in the North speaking out with a bold smile on his face, to the Warri and port harcourt guy from the south south who believes in action and speaks loudly and boldly to express himself, to the Igbo man from the south east who speaks loudly so his customers can hear him clearly when discussing business. Nigerians aren’t loud because of pride and wanting to be noticed. We are used to shouting because our president and leaders never listen, In the end Nigerians are good people, We speak out so our voices can be heard. You can drop your thoughts on the comments on why you think Nigerians are loud. I would love to hear your views gracias.
