Welcome to my blog once again everyone. Today I will be sharing a popular tribe culture in Nigeria, hope you enjoy it.
In my country Nigeria, there are different ethnic groups, which are categorized into three tribes. We have the Northern tribe, the Southern tribe and the Eastern tribe which I belong to.
The Northern people have their dialect which is called Hausa, the Southern people speak Yoruba and The Eastern people speak Igbo, but I would be writing about only one actually, my tribe the Eastern people.
The Eastern part of Nigeria consists of five main States: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo. These are the states inhabited by the Easterners also known as the Igbo people.
The Igbo's believe they came from Eri one of the sons of Gad(mentioned in the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible)who travelled down to establish the Igbo's Land.
The Igbo's political organization is based on a quasi-democratic system, whereby in a community the system grants citizens of that community equality to oppose a feudal government system with a ruling King (the Igbos call their king Eze). These communities are mostly governed by the council of senior Elders.
Igbos have different kinds of cuisine like Oha soup, Ofe onugbu, Okro soup, Agidi and beans, Nkwobi, Abacha, Ukwa, Egusi soup etc. These cuisines represent their culture and have been passed down from generation to generation.
Igbos are known for their hard work. They are eager to be successful in life and they are also known for travelling around the world. There is a saying in Igbo "Ebe obula igara ma i hughi one Igbo, bido be so "(Wherever you go and you do not see an Igbo person, start running )
I still enjoy my local cuisines. My favourite of them all is the Nkwobi soup. I still speak in my native language, not perfect but still speak a little. My culture is quite exciting. I think you guys should check it out . I hope you all enjoy the summary of my culture. Feel free to leave your comments below thank you.
