One major thing common in most Nigerian parties is the uniformed attire popularly known as asoebi.
Two years ago, a friend of mine had a little party and an asoebi was picked. It was an Ankara with multiple colors but with a very beautiful design.
I got about 6 yards and decided to make a simple gown. My best friend's mother made the gown for me. It was a very peculiar style. A wrapped gown. For a fact, I never knew what to expect as it was my first time having her sew for me. But it exceeded my expectations.
I love everything fashionable and the gown my friend's mum made was just for me. I ended up using just 3 yards of the material and I kept the remaining one.
Fast forward to this year, I've been lacking simple Ankara wears and I needed to make one. That's when I thought of the 3 yards of Ankara left and this skirt made that I've always admired.
And then I decided to make one for myself. I thought hard about who to make the skirt for me, Blessing was my first choice since she made hers herself but she has been busy and told me I could give the skirt to her mom to make for me, which was perfect and so I did just that.
The skirt is a double flared design, with a belt that could be styled beautifully. I definitely love everything about it. From the weaving designs to the colors, to the style itself. Mummy had it made and sent it over to me. Immediately I saw it, I already had an idea of rocking the style and it came out perfectly.
I wore it to work yesterday with a matching bag and a pair of sneakers and the compliments I got were just overwhelming.
I can't wait to have more beautiful styles to rock, knowing I also have designers that meet your expectations is also a blessing.
Having clothes is important, but knowing how to combine the styles is more important. I'm really thankful I have both senses.
