"Revisionist Western Cinema"
Western is a classic genre of cinema. In last two sessions we discussed about Traditional Western and Spaghetti Western subgenres. Today, our topic is revisionist western.
The revisionist western was created in Hollywood by using tactics such as subversion, self-reflexivity, self-consciousness, mockery, and cynicism. Revisionist westerns try to either paint more realistic images of what the Old West was truly like or exist solely to critique the conventions of the classical form of western cinema.
