We live in a world full of people who will argue that they're right and you're wrong.
A look on the social medias will demonstrate it - people defending "what they know or think", arguing back and forth over it and even attacking others. But are they right?
Do they know?
Probably not.
Everyone has an opinion and wants the freedom to voice and promote it seemingly forgetting that others want the same freedom; it causes a lot of discord and angst.
I know you're wrong
I might not tell you. I might not even look doubtful or disbelieving. I'll probably let you think you're right.
Why? You'll probably not listen anyway and I don't want to waste my time.
Do you know a person who always thinks they're right and never listens to, or considers, other points of view? An arrogant, ignorant, hubristic, prideful and self-absorbed person?
I know a few, and like none of them.
I don't correct them either; let them dig the holes that will eventually envelop them is my thought, it makes no difference to me and why take the time to correct assholes?
Knowing a person is wrong doesn't mean they need to be told they're wrong. It saves time, effort and energy and mental capacity not to; it reduces stress and anxiety also. Sure, there's a time and place for a person to address it, a school teacher instructing a class for instance, but it certainly doesn't need to happen on social media with random people who don't matter. What's the point of that?
Have you come across people like I mention above, know-it-alls and argumentative types, and seen the fallout on social media when they collide? It's ugly and pointless but it happens. Have you been involved? Are you one or the other yourself? What do you think people do it and what do you think they gain?
Feel free to comment, I'm interested.
