Fun, Painting, and Starlink to the rescue! The Hive Hub Is Coming
Join me today for a little glimpse into lake life here in Guatemala, we are in a province called Solola, in a town named San Marcos La Laguna.
In today’s video we are walking along the edge Lake Atitlan, headed for the far corner of San Marcos La Laguna.
With me today are — my two fun lovin, mischievous teens — whose hobbies include swinging recklessly into lakes and occasionally helping paint walls when bribed with smoothies.
The video begins with a relaxed afternoon trip to the rope swing, a reminder that everything meaningful (especially the hard work) should not lose track of joy.
Then we shift to a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring the Hive Hub Guatemala to life. We are in the process of reestablishing the reception area of the Ati Hotel, moving it back to the roadside cafe. Reception was in this same spot about a year ago, and so shall it be again. 😎
Time to scrub and vacuum, sand and paint, build and install….the dust must be shook!
And yes, even though you didnt ask, ill tell you that the man with the cables in this video is installing high-speed internet right in the café, giving digital nomads a home in the Hive Hub.
The dream? A 3-month pilot program that brings the Hive blockchain into daily real-world interactions. Blogging, tipping, earning, creating, sharing — all from the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes on Earth.
In this second half of the video, you’ll see us in transformation: scrubbing, painting and reorganizing. There’s dust in our hair, buckets in our hands, and a small army of helpers making it happen.
Hive Hub Guatemala isn’t just about content creation or crypto — it’s about showing how digital tools can empower people in physical spaces. It’s onboarding through action. It’s conversations over coffee that turn into collaborations. It’s teaching someone to set up a Hive account while they’re waiting for their fries. It’s HBD flowing from the Hive Debit Card to the bartender all with a single tap!
And things are heating up. and
have their tickets and land early June, and from there we roll straight into a Hive meetup in Barrio Bitcoin, downtown Guatemala City — a perfect collision of decentralization and an artist community . We’ll link up here in Zone 4 with
, find a café, and maybe test out the V4V (Value-for-Value) app over a couple of micheladas paid in Hive Backed Dollars. Because that’s what this is all about: building real-world value with the tools we’ve already got with Hive!
Momentum is real. The paint is drying, the routers are humming, and the rope swing is waiting for you to visit! All of Hive is welcome!
