Here is a job I have been meaning to get around to for a while.
The growing beds in my politunnel were not deep enough to hold lots of everything like organic moisture retaining material. The heat of summer sun would dry then out so I am in the process of a makeover - deeper beds but less of them.
I filled with layers of organic material such as dead wood logs ( at the bottom , followed by a layer of straw, followed by kitchen scraps and cardboard, topped with a good quality compost soil mix. First bed is finished and I planted the first item into it a few hours ago - 2 full rows of salad onions I had started in plug-pots.
In case those photos seem just a bit drab on your colour senses I will end with a strawberry ready for eating / the flavour of these is exceptionally good!
