One day after the winter solstice and I like the feeling that darkness bit by bit starts giving its place to the light. In the northern hemisphere you can feel the feminine energies coming on the surface. It is time for introspection and gratitude for all that has come and all that will come.
My inner child always likes to dream of the summer this first day of the winter. I am not rushing, but I find the return of the sun so fascinating.
This never ending dance between dark and light, along with the Vintage Photography Quest by inspired the shooting of Scaly. This is the name we have given to this vintage tailor's doll. My partner's grandmother was a tailor and this was part of her precious equipment. She is a 70's girl (maybe a bit older) and I know that there are new ones that they don't look much different, but they don't carry the magic of this curved figure.
I am a secondhand and vintage enthusiast and I can get very emotional when I think about people who used them before me, what they were doing, how they were feeling...
With this lady it is a bit different and even more emotional as it is a hand down from a very beloved person. For years it stood at the living room when we lived in Athens, but when I got my weaving loom (another vintage, another story) she moved to the village next to the loom.
She is now my companion when weaving. And these last months she is my assistant in my attempt to untangle the silk yarn that came to me as a mess just to make me realize that there is something harder than weaving silk yarn and that is untangling it.
Lastly, one shot with a kind of 70's scarf to bring her back to her youth and add some color to this post of dark and light.
If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post!
