Happy Easter. A little late but better than never. Yeah, Jesus has risen!!!
So, on Easter sunday, I was in church listening to a preaching by one of the pastors in the church. The pastor in middle of the preaching stopped and asked, "If you are offered millions of money, but you will die at the end of the month. How many of you will take on the offer?"
The entire church kept their hands down. The pastor repeated the question and this time, a young lad raised his hands, bringing all eyes on himself.
The pastor assumed he did not understand the question and asked the question again, this time slowly emphasizing on the "die at the end of the month". Yet still, the boy maintained his posture, his hands in the air.
The pastor perplexed, said the young boy needs to undergo deliverance. The pastor then asked how will he be able to use the money if he dies at the end of the month.
The boy answered, 'I'll give my parents'
'That's the spirit of Boko haram' the pastor said, laughing.
The congregation joined in the laughter.
'That is what they promised these boys', he continued. 'They promise them family security, money and all, while the boys risk their lives, carrying out suicide missions. A promise they don't usually deliver but they hoodwink these boys on the fantasy of the life to come'.
But this beget a question in my heart. I thought, Is the young boy totally wrong
Or
Did the pastor misinterpreted it?
The young boy wants his parents to live better lives, and doesn't mind dying in the process, which can be likened to what christ did for us.
Christ died so we may live. He was sinless, but was crucified for the sinners. He was perfect, but carried the cross for the imperfect.
He who knew no sin was hanged for those who sin over and over.
The young boy wanted to DIE, so his parent could enjoy wealth and the comforts that comes with it.
HE SACRIFICED!
