I'm having fun with the Blocklords gameplay demo, so I thought I'd cut a video of me talking through some of things you can already do in game. It feels a lot like Age of Empires, which is fantastic!
Highlights
Food Loop
All of your workers need food to keep their energy levels high. Without energy, they can't work. You can have basic villagers foraging for berries, but they are really slow. Instead, you quickly need to start producing food in large quantities.
This production loop starts at the wheat field. Here you can decide what seed and tools to use to get the right amount of food for your village:
Then, you assign your farmers to plant and harvest the field. At that point, you use your cooks to convert wheat to grain at the windmill and grain to food at the granary:
Quests
This tutorial guides you with quests to build the next structures, how to use the market, etc.
Events
While toiling away, your workers will occasionally generate events where you can choose how to respond. So far, none of the choices have hurt me. They usually give tools, food, etc.
Other production
Lumberjacks are cutting down trees and miners are quarrying stone. Your builders need to create tools in addition to more housing for more workers.
Conclusion
There's a lot here already! I hope you'll give the video a watch to see all of it. I'm pretty pumped for the game, and I'm happy to have confirmation of non-vaporware status! The integration of NFTs is nice and streamlined and their are unique mechanics such as aging in this game that I haven't seen any other games try and tackle. I'm exciting to continue watching this game develop and (hopefully) grow it's playerbase.
Definitely one to keep an eye on.
