If you are a dog or cat owner, you know how much their companionship offers a great deal of joy each and every day. I think I've taken more photos of my pets these past few years.
Mika came to us September of 2022 after tragically losing our other Shih tzu-Maltese due to a car accident. She has been a wonderful companion for both my husband and me.
She chooses my husband to be her playmate throughout the entire day. She has a plethora of toys to choose from and makes sure that each is used.
Afternoon porch time is of course Mika's favorite since she has all of my attention while hubby takes an afternoon nap. She is watching me to make sure that I sit down and keep her company.
This is her spot to take up the guard dog position! Overseeing that nothing enters the back yard unnoticed. If so, off she runs to chase those squirrels, thankfully, she hasn't captured one. I don't know how either of them would fare if she did so.
We had to move the birdfeeder to the outer side of the fence just to try to keep them out of the yard.
No matter how hot it gets outside, Mika loves to lie in the sun. It doesn't matter if it is outside or inside, she will find the sunniest spot to relax.
It is funny, hubby is the playmate, and I'm her comfort zone. Does your dog choose certain activities between yourself and your spouse? She has done so with us, and we comment all the time about it.
Here we are spending a quiet afternoon with her on my lap or between my legs for a little siesta. She waits for me to settle down so she can snooze with me, otherwise I get a look that says, hello I'm waiting for you.
Guess who like sleeping in bed with me. Yep, she takes up a bit of room and loves to sleep on her back. That tells me that she feels safe and secure without a care in the world. Now, how sweet is that?
She's my little snuggle bug and is curled right up next to her momma and that is just fine with me. After deciding not to get another dog after losing our other girl, I can't imagine our life without Mika. She certainly fills up our days with so much activity and joy that I'm sure is helping to keep us both a little more flexible and younger at heart.
