Lately I've been considering not renewing my PS Plus subscription because we haven't received a quality game in a while. Every month we get 2-3 games for free but lately these games have been complete turds or they are microtransaction traps where the game is going to become free-to-play a few months after release anyway.
Dragon's Crown Pro looked like it could have been decent but honestly, I can't understand why anyone would want to play this these days.
Maybe you aren't old enough to remember Golden Axe on the Sega Genesis, but that game was pretty innovative and monumental when it was released. Dragon's Crown is essentially that game but with more modern graphics and a not 100% linear gameplay style.
You run around thwacking enemies in a brainless manner eventually stumbling upon treasure chests and facing bosses all the while getting access to new and improved gear.
There's shops to buy new stuff, potions to heal with, and muti-player options that I never took advantage of. I guess it could be a little bit of fun if you wanted to have a brainless dungeon raid with some friends that don't take games very seriously.

one of the characters has huge knockers too!
If you were playing with 3 other people, I can only imagine that this game would be absolute chaos since even playing just 1-player mode the screen is almost completely full most of the time. I can only hope there is not friendly fire because I am quite certain that I would accidentally be killing my teammates on a regular basis. I am not going to keep this on my PS4 long enough to find out.
In my mind, any game needs to captivate you right from the start. In fact, I feel like great games always need to start and finish strong, but this game starts with a crawl and after 1 hour and endless written dialogue that I quickly started to skip all of, I didn't even know what the hell was going on. I just knew I needed to go "that way" and swing my sword and block every now and then.
I mean look at that? This is just chaos and mad button mashing. In 1992 I would have appreciated something like this because virtually every adventure game was exactly that. Things should have improved over the past 30 years, shouldn't have they?
While I do appreciate throwbacks to old-school gaming, this one really misses the mark for me and the 1.5 hours or so that I put into this game is all it is ever going to see from me. It's simply too clunky and stiff to be fun.
If you feel differently I would love to hear how that is possible because in my mind this game is terrible and that is likely why PlayStation decided to give it away for nothing.
