In August 2019, I took a trip to northern Georgia to explore this state park. I heard there were two wonderful waterfalls here. Since I was working near Atlanta for a few weeks that summer, I decided a road trip was in order. I think people underestimate Georgia as a landscape photography destination, especially northern Georgia with its lovely mountainous terrain.
Here is what I consider the tunnel view version from this state park. I imagine this scene would look great in Autumn with fall color.
My goal was to reach the two well known waterfalls from this location. Usually, you climb up a trail to reach your destination but not here. I remember the hundreds of steps I climbed down to reach this first waterfall. Going down was not bad but going back up was certainly a workout especially in the humid conditions of summer in the South.
The first waterfall I reached was this beautiful 90 foot waterfall framed by summer foliage. The size of the boulders as shown in the left image was impressive. Some cool ferns grew around the base of the waterfall.
After a long series of steps, I finally reached the smaller 60 foot waterfall but I think this one is even more impressive than the first. I was setting up a composition when this young lady started doing yoga poses near the base. Normally, I would have waited for her to leave so I could get a clean shot but I decided to include her in the frame. This unplanned shot turned out to be my favorite image from this trip to northern Georgia.
Thank you in advance for your support.
