Hi everyone,
Photography has always been the beacon in the dark so I've been doing lightpainting again for several weeks. I'll try to do it as often as possible during the following weeks as I'm convinced it will help me to recover physically and mentally.
I scouted an inspirative location a couple of weeks ago and I was looking forward to visit it at night and see how I could manage with it.
After a couple of warm-up shots while lighting the hole and rotating my camera, I decided to step up my game :
Then, it was time to challenge myself with more complexity : including an abstract light-calligraphy in a camera rotation job for a nice combination. To do this, I first worked with a tripod positioned infront of a black background (in this case, the forest) to draw by hand the abstract light calligraphy using a couple of LED strips and single pruple and green LEDs. Then, I replaced the lens cap and walked about 100 meters to place my camera (still in continuous long exposure mode) on a second tripod equipped with my rotating tool (a gimbal head). Then I removed the lens cap and repeatedly illuminated the tunnel from different angles (8) with a purple gel by covering and uncovering the lens to obtain the desired purple pattern.
I'm quite pleased with the final result 😀. Although I plan to return to this location asap to further explore this tunnel, which I find very inspiring :

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?
Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
