Of ancient origin, the thermal waters of Saturnia would have originated, according to legend, after the god Saturn, angry with men in constant war with each other, threw a lightning bolt on the earth which, sticking to the ground, originated a crater from which they began to come out hot waters dense with steam, which were able to placate souls and give life to generations of wiser and more peaceful men. Beyond the legend, the waters of Saturnia were already appreciated in ancient times, Etruscan and Roman to be precise, and the Romans already built the first public baths, used for the social and political life of the Tuscan town.
