I went through the same evolution, but mostly to stop dealing with tiny cards rather than for crypto 😄
Airalo is solid if you know your route in advance. But there's one thing worth mentioning - some travel eSIMs are locked to a single local network. I’ve been using Ohayu, which usually connects to 2-3 local providers in the country, and switches between networks. It helped me stay online on trains and buses where the signal usually drops.
And I totally agree - there's no going back after the eSIM. You just won't ever want to stay in line in the SIM corner again.
