Greetings to everyone here once again. I am very excited to be part of this community, and today I would like to write about and share with you guys an exciting topic about which I was sent a video to watch and learn from. The topic for discussion today is "Are we financially responsible to other people?" Follow me as we talk about this topic today, and please note that this is going to be Part 1 on this topic.
As Brother Eli Soriano stated in the video, spiritually we have financial obligations to people who are in need of our help. This tells us that we should try to always support the needy and the poor.
According to the Book of Matthew 5:42, it states, "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." This means it is your obligation to give to anyone who asks. It can be anything that is valuable, such as money, food, clothes, etc.
Also, the verse teaches us to lend to anyone that requests money from us, even if the person is your enemy. We should not deny someone a loan simply because we don't get along with them. This can be found in the book of Luke 6: 35 which states,"But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil."
This teaches us not to turn down anyone who asks to borrow money from us when we have it. We should lend without even asking for interest, and this is supported by the book of Exodus 22:25; "If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury."
According to the New Testament, anyone with money who does not help the poor is not loved by God. This can be found in the Book of 1 John 3:17; "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?"
We should be compassionate, and helpful to people who are in need of us. This means that, spiritually speaking, we have obligations to people to whom we owe nothing, but we owe our lives to God.
This is where I end my topic, and I would like to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to everyone and also to the administrators and moderators of this community for the wonderful efforts they are putting into the community. I say God bless you all.
