Hi,
I'm Alani, Olubukola
Today is the 19th day of May, 2021.
I want to contribute to the question tagged "what is the baptism in the Bible? ( part 2 of 3)"
It is not only in River Jordan that John the Baptist baptized.
John 3:23
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized."
John the Baptist knew what he was doing when he baptized Jesus Christ and some in river Jordan because it is the right place for baptism and it is not only river Jordan that people can be baptized
Maybe for the sake of convenience of people who are not far from the river Jordan.
John decided to baptized people in aenon because there was much water there.
It is wrong to say that you have to go to the Jordan river to be baptized.
How can an African, a poor African who does not even have food to eat,pay the fare from Africa to Jordan river or Israel. It is impossible.
1Peter 3:20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
The earth at that time was filled with corruption so God used the water to wash the earth and save it from corruption. The family of Noah was saved at that time from corruption.
Baptism is really a step to salvation.
Mark 10:39
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
This is the manner of baptism and not the place of baptism.
This tells us that baptism can be done in any body of water.
