Hello Everyone,
I want to contribute to the topic tagged "What is the Faith of the thief on the cross written in Luke 22:42-43? (Part 2 of 7)"
If you are doing God's righteousness will it be like filthy rags.
If you are submitting yourself to the righteousness of God.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Your righteousness is counted .
It's valuable in the sight of God, if you are doing HIS righteousness.
Christ advised the Jews to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Not your own righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
There is a great difference between our own righteousness and the righteousness of God.
While you are doing your own righteousness, how does God regards you?
If you are doing your own righteousness which is not under HIS righteousness.
Luke 16:15...And he said unto them ,Ye are they which justify yourselves before men.
God knoweth your hearts for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
It is abomination, it is just like filthy rags in the sight of God.
This is a clear indication that there is a great difference in doing God's righteousness and doing your own righteousness to justify yourselves in the eyes of Men.
These are two different things.
There are religious leaders that says we do not have to do good works anymore.
Good works is not necessary. Even if, you do good works they are just like filthy rags in the sight of God.
That is a reckless interpretation of the Scriptures. It is not the truth and can never be the truth.
Mark 15:32
You must remember that they were only two crucified with the Lord Jesus Christ.
One o n the Left and one on the right.
The record of Mark is that both of them reviled HIM that is, Mocked Jesus, but, before they died finally, one of the thieves realized between the remaining hours due to what he had seen or experienced opened his mind.
Let's examine ourselves where are we faulty, there is still Grace at Calvary, we can still amend our ways and God will restore us.
