Hi Brethren,
I'm contributing to the biblical question titled, "What is the Baptism in the bible?( Part 1 of 3)"
I have nothing against those who go to the river Jordan spending thousands of dollars from every part of the world to be baptized.
If they could afford it. And if the one officiating the baptism there is a true baptizer.
That's where the question is. So, baptism without question is a commandments of our LORD Jesus Christ.
"Mark 10:39 And thy said unto him, we can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:"
So, this is an example of baptism received by the LORD Jesus Christ.
Why do we say is an example is because the intent of baptism, must not apply to our LORD Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, baptism is the washing away of sins
According to the bible. It is the period of genuine repentance. Of The LORD Jesus Christ has nothing to repent of, He did not commit any sin.
"1st Peter 2:22 Who did no sin. neither was guile found in his mouth:" So, there is nothing necessity for the LORD Jesus Christ to be baptized of.
If we are going to apply to him the intent of baptism. It was commanded by God.
The intention that people may repent from their sins, that their sins may be washed away.
"Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" So, the intention of baptism is for the remission of sins.
To prove that, when Ananias went to Paul and asked him to be baptized, he said that very same intention.
"Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the LORD" Then Ananias sent unto Paul who was formally a soul Persecutor of Christian faith. And because of his sins he has committed to the church. Ananias told him why are you tarrying? arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the LORD Jesus.
Again, baptism really, is the remission of sins and washing away of sins. Although, other people said baptism is the retual to give some babies and names. That is not biblical. Those that are being baptized have names already. And our LORD Jesus Christ said with the baptism I am baptized withal shall ye all be baptized.
So, the baptism CD that was received by our LORD Jesus Christ is the baptism to give examples to the Christians that they should be baptized.
But the intent of baptism is not fulfilling in the LORD Jesus Christ because there is no sin that was committed by the LORD Jesus Christ. He has nothing to repent of.
He must not repent on anything. He did not sin. There was no guile found in his mouth.
For all the 30 years He lived with His Mother Mary and His foster Father Joseph. He did not commit any sin to His brethren, even to His parents, even to anybody. No sin found in Him. So, at the age 30years when He was baptized, be it was not for the intention of sin neither for repentance.
Now, that is example in "1Peter 2:21 For even here to were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"
Christ our LORD shows christians examples of what they are doing to do. He lived an earthly life when He was manifested in the flesh to give an example of what our lives must be lived on earth.
Especially on the religious side of life. May God help us to live a good life that glorifies Him in Jesus 'Name.
