Hi Brethren,
My name is Alani Jeremiah Jesuseunfunmi.
Today is the 09th day of May, 2021.
I want to contribute to the topic titled, "What is the faith of the thief? Luke 23:42-23? (Part 1 of 7)" First of all we have to understand what the book of Isaiah says before we interprete it in relation to what happened on the cross between the criminal and our LORD Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 54:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities; like the wind, have taken us away.
Those are the words of people who are buried in iniquities.
Own righteousness.
Romans 10:3 for they being ingnorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
This is the cleared picture of the scriptures beloveth.
There are two types of righteousness in the bible;
(1) The righteousness of God which is Dik- ah- yos-oo-nay meaning justice.
(2) There is OWN righteousness of man.
And those who are ignorant of God's righteousness wanted to establish their own righteousness and they have not submitted themselves to the righteousnesses of God.
They are speaking of themselves as they are transgressors of God's law.
Isaiah 64:6 Those people are very far away from God. They have faded like leaves.
They have no good history that was left behind.
They are just like the wind.
Comparing this with the words of Apostle Paul;
Romans 3:10-12. As it written, there is none righteous, no, not one.
Vs11 There is none that understandeth there is none that seeketh after God.
Vs 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable, there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
They have all gone out of the way like the wind according to Isaiah.
Apostle Paul was not saying we have all gone out of the way like the wind.
But he said, they have all gone out of the way.
These are the people that their righteousness are like the rags in the sight of the LORD.
The question is if you are doing God's righteousness will you be like filthy rags?
So, the lesson is we should all depart from iniquities and seek after God.
