To make the gospel attractive, the proper thing to do as a Christian, is just to live out your life in the location you are in. But there is also the opportunity to go out on evangelism collectively as a church when the church posts it. While this is to be expected, we are supposed to be doing it individually, not only when the church announces.
Agreed, there are some of us who are shy and hesitate to go out alone. The opportunity of going out as a group therefore gives such ones the advantage to be able to go with others. Over time, such ones will develop boldness and courage to go out on their own. Don't wait for anyone to push you around or beg you because this should be your number one priority.
Sometimes, the church becomes so inward focused than outward focused. When we focus inward, all we are concerned about is meeting our needs - blessings, prosperity, miracles etc. while neglecting to reach out to the unreached. It is a backsliding church that embraces such methodology and it is very dangerous because, it amounts to making the death and suffering of Jesus Christ of non effect. It's unprofitable.
The number one reason why the church exists is to preach the gospel, to expand the frontiers of the kingdom of God and bring men and women to the saving knowledge of Christ. Every other thing is secondary. Every fellowship in the church should be committed to soul winning because that is the number one calling and assignment as a church.
Discipleship does not come before evangelism. It is when you bring souls to Christ, that you can disciple them, “Teaching them to observe all things that I've commanded…” as recorded in Matthew 28 vs. 20. So, bringing men and women to the saving knowledge of Christ should be our priority.
Another aspect of discipleship is follow – up. Hear Jesus: “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain…” [John 15: 16].
Sadly, many of us are still waiting for ordination and looking for pulpits before preaching the gospel. We don't need that before doing what is expected of us.
