A creature can never be greater than the creator. Idols have no power because they are the works of men. They have mouths but cannot speak. They have ears but they cannot hear. People who indulge in idol worshipping belittle themselves.
God created us in His image and likeness. We have His nature and that translates us to gods. We are to have dominion over everything on earth and not the other way round. Those who submit to idols have lost understanding of what their true identity is.
God listens to only those who call upon His name. For God to hear and answer us we need to first of all seek Him with all our hearts. Our hearts should have no room for and other gods except for the one true God. We can't have a plan B when dealing with God. It can never work.
