Names are a lot more than what people use to label us. They represent us. In Genesis the bible said that whatever Adam called the animals that was what they became. We humans as well become what we continuously call ourselves over a period of time.
Names play a serious role in our destiny. This is why one of the first decisions a parent makes over there child when they a newly born is to give the child a name.
It's also the reason why God had to change the name of Abram to Abraham and Jacob to Israel. And when he changed the names of these individuals it brought about a new beginning in their lives which they may have never experienced is their names weren't changed.
Our lives are meant to be shaped according to God's purpose and not by chance. God is very much concerned with who we become than what we are called. Names should not be based on how beautiful or pleasant it sounds in the ears, but based on the meanings behind them.
