The early Christians even in the midst of tribulations still kept preaching the gospel from nations to nations. They still stood on their faith and did not let the persecutions they faced to hold them back or change their confession.
When we look into the Old Testament dispensation, from the New Testament stand it is quite marvelling how the early Christians were able to gather courage and behavior. It makes one wonder how they found the strength to preach God's Word during such dangerous, discouraging and uncertain times.
Their response to persecution make you conclude that they certainly have understood some vital truths about the Christian faith that a lot of people today may have either forgotten or overlooked.
Luke 12: 15
A man's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses
.
The early church lived with a different kind of perspective that most christians of today have. They looked at life through God's lens. They saw things from God’s own point of view and not through the lens of comfort, wealth, personal safety, or what people think.
They lived their lives in such a way that they always put God first and what mattered most to Him. It was God before themselves. They lived a life of denial to self. This is the reason why persecution didn't silence them. Instead of silencing them it gave them more fuel and drive to go ahead with their mission.
Jesus did not hide this truth away from us. But it’s quite unfortunate that some preachers today give people the idea that becoming a christian saves us from tribulations. This is not the actual truth. Problems will definitely arise. But the good news is that we are assured by Christ that we will overcome them all and come out victorious.
