It means that Jesus helped his parents by assisting his earthly father with his work. Carpentry is a respected skill in Nazareth, and Jesus used It to get a handwork before starting his apostolic work. Jesus lived a normal life like every other person.
Tekton can also be more than a carpenter. Tekton can be someone who works with stone and woods in a building. Jesus works in different buildings when he was alive. By doing this work, he understood the lives of ordinary people, which may have helped him teach about helping others, being humble, and working hard.
