I learnt that we should always acknowledge the kindness of God and always be greatful for everything he has done for us.
According to the bible, when we make a feast,we should not only invite the rich because of what they will give to us in return because if we are recompense by men,we will no longer be rewarded by God but our invitation should be on the poor, the lame and the blind because they will not be able to reward us and so our reward and blessings will come from God.
Luke 14:12 says: Then said he also to him that bade him, when thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends,nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen,nor thy rich neighbors;lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.
13 says: But when thou makest a feast,call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 says: And thou shalt be blessed; for they can not recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
As human,our mindset should be replace with the mindset of God so that our judgement will not be that of evil.
We should give importance to the poor, the less privileged, and the widows bso that we will be rewarded by God especially when we know that it is our obligation.
We should care and help those who have nothing to offer.
We should give importance to the brethren who are poor.
1 Corinthians 12:21 says: And the eyes cannot unto the hand,I have no need of the:nor the head to the feet,I have no need of you.
22 says:Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble,are necessary:
23 says: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our comely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 says: For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 says:That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
According the the above scripture, many members of the body are poor, weak and powerless,so we should give support to them,we should not look down on them but we should give to every member what is due to them.
The weakness of the weak should be filled with the strong.
Romans 13:7 says: Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom;fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 says:Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth one another hath fulfilled the law.
When we despise the poor it means we are oweing something to them and it is lack of fear in God if we do not give due to whom it is due.
We should not allow ourselves have evil thoughts or be partial to the brethren.
James 2:2 says: For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring,in goodly apparel, and there come also a poor man in vile raiment;
3 says: And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and said unto him,Sit thou here in a good place; and said to the poor, Stand thou there,or sit here under my footstool:
4 says: Are you not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 says: Hearken,my beloved brethren,Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 says: But ye have despise the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgement seats?
We should really have the same care one for another.
For us to be able to practice the true religion,we should not oppress the widows, and the fatherless but rather we should visit them in the time of affliction.
James 1:27 says: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this, To visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
We should defend the widows and the poor especially when they are in need.
When we love one another,we are fulfilling the law of God.
We should continue in the good works that God has already prepared for us.
In the church,we should not discriminate or despise the poor brethren.
We should always be seen in action and not only in words.
Our ears should always be open to the cry of the poor when they are in need.
