From brother Elis teachings, I understood that the Holy Communion as we all say is just a literal bread and wine and it is not what Christ spoke of.
When Jesus spoke of the bread, He wasn't talking about the literal bread and wine, but of one that comes from heaven.
John 3:12
King James Version
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
From the scripture above we can note that they are two kinds of things, the heavenly and the earthly. And Jesus teaching was not referring to the earthly things rather He spoke of the heavenly bread and wine that does not perish.
1 John 1:1-3
King James Version
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ
John in the scripture was encouraging everyone to have fellowship with the Father and the Son. And that fellowship is what we call COMMUNION which means KOINONIA meaning to partner with God.
So it is through receiving the bread that we have communion with Christ. Therefore the bread symbolizes the word of God. So when we receive the bread and the wine which is the word of God, we automatically are in communion with our Lord Jesus Christ.
So the word of God was likened to be bread. And the communion means fellowshipping, and they can be no fellowship if we do not accept the word of God.
Luke 4:4
King James Version
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Thank y'all.
