God does not want us to go according to our will because our will might not be the best in our life. God has good plans for us and it is the best plan for us. We are supposed to place our will, our plans to God.
Our will must align with the will of God for our life. Our plan must align with the plan of God for our life. When we are making a decision, we must make sure that we seek consent from God first.
In the Bible, David and his wife, had his wife and children, they were abducted, taken away from him. But all he asked was that God should do his will. And in the book of Samuel, 1 Samuel 38, they even knew that God's will must always prevail no matter what. That is why he committed all his plans to God.
