Yes, as Christians, we are financially responsible for helping others especially those in need. The Bible clearly encourages generosity and compassion.
In Matthew 5:42 (KJV), Jesus says:
“Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”
This is a clear proof that whhen someone ask for our support, we are expected to help the person if we are able to affrod the help.Helping others is not just kindness it’s obedience to Christ.
Luke 6:35 (KJV) further commands:
“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great…”
So giving freely without expecting reward from the person or repayment is actually what God expects from us, this will then attract the blessing of God.
The Bible also warns against exploiting the poor.
Exodus 22:25 (KJV) says:
“If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer…”
Don’t take advantage of the needy or pressure them unfairly when they struggle to repay, this is the simple meaning
Lastly, 1 John 3:17 (KJV) says:
“Whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need… how dwelleth the love of God in him?”
In conclusion, yes, we are financially responsible to others not by force, but out of love and obedience to God. Let us give cheerfully and generously.
