For us to successfully live the lives we are called to live as christians we need to be disciplined. This entails that we put away every cravings and desires of the flesh. Habits are easy to form but difficult to break, but not impossible. For us to successfully out out from a bad habit we need to be very willing to do so and intentional about it.
No one can help if we are not ready to be helped in the first place. Breaking out from drug addiction or any other sort of addiction does not happen by magic. It takes seriousness and commitment. When God sees this it is very easy for Him to step in and help us through this phase.
Another very important thing to note is the kind of association we involve ourselves with. Overcoming drug addiction may require that the individual needs to cut off from certain friends because in most cases they were the ones who influenced them into living that way of life. Keeping such friends will do us no good, so we have to cut ties with them and take on new set of friends, ones that will draw is closer to God instead of farther.
