Good day brethren and happy new month to us all,so today we will talk about an important lesson learnt from the word of God as taught to us by Bro Eli.
Many widows and widowers often wonder whether remarrying after the death of a spouse is biblically acceptable. Thankfully, the Bible gives a clear answer.
According to Romans 7:2–3 (KJV):
“For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.”
So waht can we take away from this verse of the bible , if a partner of a married person dies , the law of marriage is no longer bounded to the one that is still alive.
Therefore, remarrying after the death of a spouse is not a sin and does not break any biblical commandment.
While personal feelings and family concerns may cause hesitation, it’s important to understand that remarriage is biblically lawful. Also, Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 7:9 that it is better to marry than to burn with passion meaning, if a person desires companionship, it is better to remarry than to fall into sin.
So, if a widow or widower chooses to remarry, they should not be judged. Instead, they should be supported, knowing that such a decision is in line with God’s word.
