Brother Eli gives us a reminder that as Christians we are caused to live an intentional life. The Bible is not a book of doctrine but a book of prophecy, given so that we may believe we are foretold.
We are being reminded that God wants us to be aware of so many future events that will come, not to live personally but to work under a notion that "what will be, will be". But to plan and to trust in his guardians.
The teaching of Proverbs 16:9 is striking. Why men have their own way. It is the Lord that directs their plans and steps. So this shows that we are given the responsibility to plan but it is only the direction of God that is important. Our future is secured.
We are being reminded of the sanctity of death which is in Ecclesiastes 9 vs 5 and the inevitability of judgment in Hebrews 9 vs 7. This is a light the need to live a purposeful life. In Ephesians 2:10 we are being assured also that we are the workmanship of God.
We are created to do good works that he has prepared us for. As believers this teaching has inspired us to be confident, to live a life of clarity and to be committed to living an intentional life.
