God wants us to live in peace and love with one another, and not in conflict. He forgives us for the wrong things we do, and in the same way, He expects us to forgive others. He showed us we ought to go about it, and now it’s our turn to follow that example.
This is how we should live our lives, even when it’s hard. Holding on to offences because caused us doesn’t do us any good. In fact, God made it clear that if we come to Him in prayer while we’re still holding something against someone, we should go and sort it out first before we go back to Him in prayers. This could be one of the reasons our prayers sometimes seem like they are not producing the answers we expect.
If we are not willing to forgive others, then we’re not truly following Jesus the way we are meant to. Forgiveness should be a character trait every believer should possess.
