Many people unfortunately are spiritually gullible. If a belief promises to enhance personal well-being, provide emotional comfort, or give life meaning, it quickly gains followers no matter how irrational or unbiblical it may be.
Some born-again Christians believe it is possible to communicate with the dead. 33% believe in reincarnation and astrology. 50% believe in psychic powers. Alarmingly, half believe all religions are equally valid paths to God.
This widespread syncretism-the blending of incompatible beliefs-has infiltrated the pews. And at its root is a subtle but deadly shift: People trust their own experiences more than God's unchanging Word. This is a defining issue of our time. Instead of asking, "Is this true according to Scripture?", many ask, "How does it make me feel?"
And in an age for belief where self is the center of everything, that question becomes the foundation. When feelings replace truth, Doctrine is de-emphasized. Absolute moral standards collapse. Christianity becomes individualistic and shallow.
Personal transformation is essential in our walk with God but biblical Christianity is more than emotional or mystical experiences. It is grounded in objective, revealed truth, truth about God, Jesus Christ, salvation, sin and eternity.
Our present day church must reclaim good religion void of power, conviction, or transformation.
