The reason why it looks like some people are abandoned by God is because the people God has sent their way refused to respond. When God wants to meet the need of someone He sends a man to that person. The truth is that we are not just blessed for the betterment of our lives alone but also as an extension of God's blessings to others.
Giving is one of the attributes of the Christian. God would not bless us just for our own gratification. There are always people we can reach out to and be a source of help to.
2 Corinthians 8:1 - Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;2 Corinthians 8:2 - How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
The way God purposed for the church to function is that they should not be any who lacked in their midst. As christians we are asked to share in each other's joy and afflictions. We are not to withhold anything from another if we happen to be in possession of it.
