A father can never desire evil for his children. Unless he is not a good father. We have a Father who wants the best for us, far better than even what our earthly parents desire for us.
Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
We are very wrong in thinking that God wants evil for us. God is so mindful of us that it led to the angels asking in Psalms 8:4, "what is man that you are so mindful of Him?" It is the enemy who desires evil to come upon us and not God.
If God should open our eyes spiritually to the arrows which fly around then we'll be convinced that if not by God's grace, mercy, and love for us we'd all have been consumed. Even though we don't see it, God is actually protecting us
